Hello and thank you for visiting my Web site.

If you have reviewed any of the rest of uwm.edu, you already know that beyond academic excellence, UW-Milwaukee has primary objectives of expanding our research portfolio and providing higher education access to the broadest possible audience. Our outstanding faculty and staff embrace the concept that students, no matter what their socio-economic background, deserve the highest quality of education. At the same time, UWM is committed to attaining fairness and equity in hiring and employment practices. We believe this broad-minded approach creates a unique experience for everyone at this university.

And there is so much more going on here. More Wisconsin residents attend our university than any other in the state. Our more than 28,000 students have access to 156 degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.

Our work is not limited to what we teach on Milwaukee’s East Side. Since coming to UWM in 2004, I have come to appreciate how this university serves as a crucial catalyst for the economic well-being of the City of Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin. We embrace our many business partners and are actively involved in M7, the Milwaukee 7 Economic Development Campaign. We have numerous nonprofit partnerships also, highlighted by the work we do with the Milwaukee Public Schools and the many health and social service agencies that serve area residents. UWM is clearly a major asset to the region and the state.

If you have any comments about UWM that you would like to share with me, please use my feedback form.

Again, thank you for visiting the UWM Web site.

Sincerely,

Carlos E. Santiago
