Blended Programs at UWM
Undergraduate Degrees Criminal Justice Today's police officers and other criminal justice professionals are encouraged to earn a bachelor's degree rather than an associate's degree to enhance mobility in their employment. To address this need, UWM is developing this blended bachelor's degree program to support students pursuing work in criminal justice fields.

Early Childhood Education The Center for Early Childhood Professional Development & Leadership and the Department of Educational Policy and Community Studies have designed a bachelors degree completion program that expands access to higher education and offers new educational and professional development pathways for early childhood professionals working in family child care, child care centers, Head Start programs, and community and school-based early childhood programs. Students earn a bachelors degree in Community Education with an emphasis on Child Care. The convenient and flexible program allows early childhood professionals to balance work and family responsibilities while enhancing their education, gaining skills, and meeting new requirements.

CommunicationThe fully online major in Communication focuses on human symbolic behavior. Communication courses are designed to help students learn both to communicate more effectively and to analyze human communication behavior in instructional, interpersonal, intercultural, group, organizational, and rhetorical/public settings. A degree in Communication prepares students for a variety of careers, including human resource training, personnel, sales, management, teaching, consulting, organizational and marketing research and information management.

View Program Website Information ResourcesThe fully online major in Information Resources (BSIR) is a cutting edge interdisciplinary program that prepares graduates for careers helping individuals and organizations effectively use information resources and information technology. The BSIR prepares graduates for careers helping individuals and organizations effectively use information resources and information technology. Graduates of the BSIR program will be immediately employable, particularly in firms that rely on the effective use of information in an interdisciplinary and cross-functional environment. Some graduates will go directly into entry-level jobs in business and industry sectors that rely heavily on information as a raw material or as a product. Other graduates may go on to graduate study in various disciplines such as information studies, information resources management, computer science, or telecommunications.

Master of Computer Science (Blended) Degree ProgramDepartment of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science The College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is pleased to announce a new "blended" (partially on-line) Masters Degree Program in Computer Science beginning Spring 2008. The Program will feature courses that are offered in both traditional in-class and (partially) on-line instruction formats. It is geared towards those working professionals and others who, because of their work or other responsibilities, will find it helpful to have part of the course instruction delivered on-line. The Program quality is maintained by the participation of regular full-time faculty and staff and by the use of advanced on-line technology available at UWM.
The courses that are offered in the blended mode (see list below) will complement the extensive current Computer Science course offerings on campus. Students will have the flexibility to tailor an appropriate program to suit their interests, needs and convenience with the help of an advisor.
