Internationally known dementia expert presents talk Aug. 4

Dr. Lawrence Whalley presents “Finding Signposts Along the Pathways to Dementia” at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Alumni Center Room, 8701 Watertown Plank Rd. on Monday, Aug. 4, from 4-6 p.m.
Dr. Whalley, who is Crombie-Ross Professor of Mental Health at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, will describe his discovery of long-lost archival data on IQ, and how this find facilitated his program of dementia research. He will report on newly discovered environmental and genetic factors involved in dementia risk. Dr. Whalley also will discuss his emphasis on the role of diet in protecting mental functioning as people age.
This lecture, free and open to the public, is of special interest to nurses, social workers, family caregivers, other dementia-care professionals and interested community members. A donation of $5 is suggested.
