In Case of a Threat or Crime…

University Police will be offering free self-defense classes starting this fall.
However, it's always best to avoid potentially dangerous situations. If you see an individual or group that looks suspicious, leave the area and head to a lighted building or business that's open and call the police.
The University alerts students via the Web site to armed robberies, assaults, rapes and other major crimes in the neighborhoods around campus — whether or not UWM students are involved.
If confronted, surrender property rather than risk your life.
If you do become a victim of a crime, fully cooperate with the suspects and try to stay calm. If you can safely do so, get a good physical description of the suspect or suspects (race, sex, age, hair style, height and weight, clothing, type of firearm, any unusual physical characteristics and the direction of travel) and call the Milwaukee Police (911) or the University Police (9911) as soon as possible.
If you feel threatened or witness a dangerous situation when you are off campus, call 911. Afterwards, please call University Police at 414-229-9911 or 414-229-4627 so our officers can be aware of the situation and be on the lookout for any possible suspects.
