Sandra Toro MartellAssistant Professor
Department of Educational Psychology Sandra Toro Martell, who teaches courses in learning and development, conducts research on learning in different educational settings, such as school classrooms and museum galleries. Her work focuses on linkages between formal and informal learning and the epistemological development of students from diverse backgrounds.
Toro Martell taught in museums for over ten years, including at The Studio Museum in Harlem, El Museo del Barrio, The Jersey City Museum, The Seattle Art Museum, and The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. She received her B.A. and B.F.A from Cornell University, M.A. in museum professions from Seton Hall University, and Ph.D. in educational psychology (with a concentration in cognitive studies in education) from the University of Washington.
